Monte dell’Olmo

Next to the village of San Giorgio, where once there was a convent, is the Mundalurm hill. It is of great pride to the inhabitants of Noche, a hamlet of Vinchio.

Legend has it an enormous elm tree, sacred to the Celts and Lombards, once stood on the top of this hill.

Today the landscape looks very different, as the area is now covered with rows of Barbera vines – the grapevine variety that thrives best in this area.

On 16th June 2019, during the sixth edition of the UNESCO Treasures, this hill was awarded the prestigious prize of the most beautiful hillside landscape of the Nizza area
