Piemonte DOC Rosato: the resurgence of a seductive and unconventional winePiemonte DOC Rosato

For years it remained on the sidelines, regarded as a ‘transitional’ wine, dismissed as a ‘women’s wine’ and often associated solely with the summer season. Today, rosé wine is experiencing a genuine boom, which has taken off particularly among young people all over the world, not just for its aesthetic appeal but rather for more thoughtful and interesting aspects.

Within this context, even a region historically associated with great reds, such as Piedmont, is finding in rosé wines a surprising and contemporary means of expression.

Piedmont DOC Rosato is a new discovery: a wine that combines freshness and structure, immediacy and terroir. A wine capable of offering interesting insights into viewing these hills from a different perspective… a lighter one, perhaps. But no less profound for that.

The best way to begin this journey?

Simple: pour the Piemonte DOC Rosato into a glass and… enjoy the surprise.

Why rosé wine is gaining ground

In recent years, rosé wine has been growing in popularity, both in Italy and abroad, reflecting the character of the region where it is produced. There are several reasons for this:

  • it is incredibly versatile when it comes to food pairings;
  • it lends itself to more casual drinking, yet is also a pleasure to savour on special occasions;
  • it has an aromatic profile that is both immediate as well as seductive.

Above all, its ability to adapt without overpowering flavours makes it an ideal wine for those seeking a glass that is easy to pair yet not predictable.

Vinchio Vaglio’s Sabbie Rosa Piemonte DOC Rosato

Sabbie rosa” (i.e. “pink sands”) is a charming reference to the colour taken on by the sandy soils of the hills of Vinchio and Vaglio Serra, particularly at sunset.

It is in this area that the grapes used to produce this Piemonte D.O.C. Rosato are grown: a young appellation created to showcase Piedmont’s native grape varieties, which are capable of expressing a high level of quality even when not used for red wine production.

The result is a rosé that perfectly expresses the identity of Monferrato hills, whose soils and microclimates help to define balanced wines, capable of combining drinkability and character.

The Piemonte DOC Rosato Sabbie Rosa is a wine with good structure, which sets it apart from many rosés produced in other regions. Whilst the nose is intensely fruity, with notes of red berries followed by floral hints of violet and daisy, the palate surprises with its freshness and savouriness, finishing on a pleasant note.

The colour? From pale pink with hints of onion skin to deep pink with violet hues, depending on the vintage! Fascinating, isn’t it?
